5 records set by Renault electric vehicles
Thanks to new technologies, rapidly growing market, huge investments from manufacturers, electric mobility is on the way to the revolutionary development of tomorrow’s transport and that’s why!
Wireless charging of electric vehicles: a dream come true
This is an important step for electric mobility, an unprecedented achievement. The stakes were high, as this innovation could revolutionize the use of electric vehicles in the future.
In may 2017, two Renault Kangoo Z. E. took part in the tests on the Satory test track located in the French city of Versailles. This is a new type of road, equipped with an inductive charging system for electric vehicles with a length of 250 meters. To do this, Renault engineers in partnership with the American company Qualcomm Technologies and the French Institute VeDeCoM literally did the impossible: two electric vans could be charged at speeds up to 100 km/h, which is an unprecedented leap forward. The technology is promising once an economic breakthrough in the cost of road construction has been achieved.
Record power reserve of the electric car in 2016
In 2016, Renault announced a record power reserve of its ZOE, equipped with a battery that provides a power reserve on a single charge of 400 km (NEDC cycle) or, in actual use, 300 km on average for urban and suburban routes in changing weather conditions, which is equivalent to a trip from Paris to Brussels without stopping. Four years after the release of the first ZOE new versions have become even more productive! It is rare to see such rapid technological progress in such a short period of time.
Record sales of Renault electric vehicles
In February 2019, Renault passed a symbolic sales milestone in Europe of 200,000 electric vehicles, 100,000 of which were sold in France! With sales growth of more than 36% in 2018, Renault for the fourth consecutive year confirms its leading position in the European market of electric vehicles!
This success is due to the sale of 40,000 units of Renault ZOE, as well as Kangoo Z. E., European electric van No. 1, with more than 40% of the market share in 2018. But this is only the first step to the success of the brand, which announced in June 2018 that it will invest more than one billion euros in its French factories to make France a center of excellence in the production of electric vehicles.
Electric car withstands the elements
From 11 to 25 February 2019, as part of the “Green expedition”, electric vehicles participated in a rally of 5,000 km to the Northern Cape above the Arctic circle.
Despite the temperature of -35°C, electric cars and motorcycles covered 400 km thanks to the ingenuity of their drivers and the reliability of their vehicles. Two drivers Renault ZOE managed to overcome more than 200 km without recharging.
The longest ride in an electric car
In October 2018, Christian Gernemann (Christian Gernemann) traveled to Romania on 24 000 km behind the wheel of Renault ZOE in order to carry out the longest in the history of the journey by electric car. Well, the mission is accomplished, as the driver was entered on April 22 in the Guinness Book of records for the feat on the occasion of the world celebrated earth Day.
